While it may not be deadly to combine Xanax and Zoloft, that doesn't mean there aren't potential side effects. For example, if you mix Xanax and Zoloft it can lead to sedation or problems with cognition and physical function. You may have problems with thinking and coordination as an example.
Xanax can be potentially habit-forming, and you may also develop a physical dependence, meaning that if you stop using it, you go through withdrawal. Xanax is meant to be a short or intermittent treat option for anxiety and panic, for example, it could be used to treat acute panic attacks, but it shouldn’t be a long-term or regular medication that you take.
If you take Zoloft with another medicine that impacts serotonin, it can lead to serotonin syndrome, which can be a serious condition. People are warned against taking certain medicines with Zoloft, such as other medicines that raise serotonin levels.

Hi All I just started wellbutrin in combination with zoloft (which I have been on for a while). I am having I have also been on Zoloft it worked the best for me, little to no side effects, but I have never taken them together thou. My husbands gets the alprazolam (xanax), I get lorazepam (generic version of ativan) for anxiety.
I'm just chugging through some depression right now and my hope is it will change - and I hope the Wellbutrin helps. Seroquel seems to work for a sleeper, not sure if I need the antipsychotic part of it at this point.
I am flying this weekend and am not a good flyer. I usually take alprazolam to fly. My doctor says it is fine to do this with those drugs (all generic) but i just wanted to find out if anyone has done it?.
Good luck on your trip.
Tame, I recently went back on Zoloft for the fourth time now. The best advice I can give you is to have him continue the Zoloft but ask for something else to take with it, like xanax, ativan, or some type of benzo. The most common side effects of starting any SSRI is temporary increase in anxiety/panic atttacks.
I think you are pretty special taking the time to look for ideas to help him with his anxiety. You are luckly to have each other. Kindly, Kitt.
The main objective is remembering what you are capable of doing. In the past I sought out professional help and still do see a therapist when I need to but now I also use many practical methods on my own to reduce anxiety. I am a sufferer of chronic anxiety.
